Shipping Replicas Within Canada Empty
PostSubject: Shipping Replicas Within Canada   Shipping Replicas Within Canada EmptyWed 19 Dec 2007, 12:21 am

I was surfing the CFC website and they updated their list of approved carriers for firearms (including replicas).

http://www.cfc-cafc.gc.ca/info_for-renseignement/carriers-transport/carriers_e.asp

Canada Post is now officially absent from this newly updated (12-16-2007) list. It would appear that as of 2 days ago, it is an offence to ship a replica or any other firearm via Canada Post (or it's subsidiaries) as they are classed as prohibited non-mailable matter.

Interesting.

I also noticed that Greyhound is not on that list. Maybe this just happens to be a mistake... hopefully...

From the same website.

Q. Can I send firearms in the mail?

You may ship restricted firearms, non-restricted firearms and prohibited handguns from one Canadian location to another Canadian location if you use the most secure method offered by Canada Post that requires a signature upon delivery. Prohibited firearms, other than prohibited handguns, and firearms being shipped across the Canadian border, must be shipped by an individual or carrier company licensed under the Firearms Act to transport those classes of firearms.

You are required by law to ship firearms unloaded and in a safe and secure manner to deter loss, theft and accidents.

4.3 Firearms (Including Imitation and Replica Firearms)

Please contact the Canadian Firearms Centre at 1-800-731-4000 to determine whether it is permissible to ship your firearms.

When it is determined permissible to ship firearms, they are to be shipped using Canada Post’s most secure product, Priority Courier with signature.

I would assume CP expresspost with a signature required would be sufficient, but if you're not sure, call the CFC number prior to shipping.

From what I've read in the regulations carrier rules apply to businesses, however there is still a subsection listing rules for shipping via Canada Post in the actual Firearms act.

Businesses

Individuals

Interesting.

Sorry to say this rules been out like a one year ago to make it clear for everyone if you're on CGN "link"

http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1844727#post1844727

You're perfectly fine to ship with CP with a few Strong members like CanAm and the rest of the firearms community it has been stated to be fine to ship with CP under CF Act.

I would thought if this was such big news it would have been on CGN.

This was posted up by Ken from 007 on the JOC website:
I always use Purolator, they know I am in the Airsoft business and they know what I ship. Canada Post has changed this policy not long ago (in accordance to the CFC of course) and I was notified of this matter as well. So in other words, ship accessories is ok but no more gun or receivers with Canadapost .
If you go to the Fact Sheets for replicas, and click the link for approved shipping methods, you get the list of approved carriers as posted above. This is what raised a flag for me.

From CGN

Quote :
Posted by firearms act
16. An individual may ship a firearm by posting it only if

(a) the firearm is a non-restricted firearm, restricted firearm or prohibited handgun;

(b) the destination is within Canada; and

(c) the firearm is posted using the most secure means of transmission by post that is offered by the Canada Post Corporation that includes the requirement to obtain a signature on delivery.

Quote :
From MauserMike;1844887 Canada Post doesn't need to be on the approved list. It is approved by name in the Firearms Act.

Remember CFC doesn't make the law its the firearms Act. If this has been change this should have apply to real steel.

Whatever apply to 007 and probably A&A means business wise and not individual like us.
