Ha ha ha, you are right Yuu. The journey is half the fun of the PTW. If you spend and loose enough on an AEG, you will appreciate the PTW all that much more. Cheap guns are fine, especially if you like to try different builds. BUT, once and if you like the armalite, then yeah, PTW is the final destination.

So what happens when 4 of us from GP come down with 4 PTWs? Not like it's happened yet, but next year will be another road-trip year.

And you guys are right. A PTW is not for someone who hasn't experienced every other gun out there, and finds them all lacking. When you have spent thousands on other guns, only to find yourself wanting more that you just can't seem to get. When you are at the top of your game, looking for the best there is, knowing you will never buy another gun. These should be the only times you should even think of buying a PTW.

It is a huge single-gun investment, and not for anyone who isn't 100% committed to see it through, or you will be disappointed.

Hey just to let you guys know Magpul has team up with Systema to develop another PTW but unknown what kind of gun; possible MASADA but time will tell.

http://airsoft-news.eu/news.php

Any case, Slick has one for sale which I'm looking at the moment a SCK Max version.. Hm..

While reading Systema Europe Forum it seems like everyone been having problems with M150 cylinder about the loose screw issue. I wonder if this might be possible for the other cylinders?

Extra systema stuff

1x 9.6v bat
12x 120 round mags
1x M130

Would one battery be enough?

Unless you are a body builder, you won't be packing 12 PTW mags. They weigh about as much as 3 Marui mags, so it would be like packing 36 regular M4 mags. The most I can pack is 8 plus 1 in the gun. Plus, they are quite hard on gear as well. Only quality gear seems to hold up after a year of use with them.

If you use the M130, then you will need 2 batteries, as you'll only get about 2000 rounds with it. The M110 should be your alternate cylinder, if you encounter fields that have a 400 fps limit.

As for Slick's gun, I would avoid a kit at all costs. You can get the pre-assembled at the factory for only a few dollars more. Most problems experienced by PTW owners are with the kits. At least if it comes from Systema pre-built, it will work and you' won't have these problems pop up due to assembly procedures gone astray.

You can always double check your cylinder prior to use to see if there is any threadlocker on that screw. If there isn't any, add some.

And I wouldn't hold your breath for a Magpul PTW. Systema is very slow to develop anything new.

Bah, 12 mags, no problem, that and a huge hydration pack, and an extra huge backpack crammed with food and batteries. People want MilSim!!! And PTW mags are not near the weight of a loaded real mag, so add some lead weights. Don't forget to add Ranger Magpuls to make them extra cool. (For what it is worth Yuu, I have 13 mags, 6 of them un-opened, I can always split some with you).

As per batteries, just get a few, can't hurt to have a spare, I love large PTW batteries (have 1 12v, and 2 9.6v) but once I can score the new electronics, I will swap over to Lipo in the buffer tube, until then, battery bag.

A Masada PTW would pwn but I must admit having the base armalite offers more options for customization and expansion. Masada really is what you see is what you get. Much like what many SCAR owners are finding out.

A PTW mag weighs almost exactly the same as a real AR mag and a 20 round box of .223, just FYI.

I know, because I have both.

Ha ha ha, I am glad that you didn't say a loaded mag at 20 rounds, let alone a 30 rnd'er, these forums are watched...

Well, considering the PTW mag is a real steal shell with plastic internals, they are lighter than a proper 30 round load (though not by a whole lot). That and all the extra crap people have on guns now, drop a few tac lights, lasers, M203's, etc. I rather have the extra mags. Especially with the eventual enforcement of no field speed loading for Sim games here, unless you want to put it in one BB at a time. Pouring a bag of BB's into a highcap is the ultimate game ruiner, the BB speed loaders really are not much better. Though I am not in the best of shape at times, I still have no problems going all day with a full load-out. Mind you, I am re-evaluating different load-out options that may cut weight but increase capacity. A CIRAS is cool, but most of the time we do not have any armor rules in effect. Hopefully we will take another look at that this spring with the CQB center.

I can never see a problem with having too many mags. If someone can't hack the weight, fine, but at least you have the option to try more. With the high dollar, I say buy all the mags you can now. Even at par, I am get my mags for ~ $51 a pop with shipping, customs tax, etc. if not cheaper. I remember when all there was were TM mags in Canada and 007, Double Edge, Rangers, etc. were charger that and higher for a crap TM mag... urgh...

I definitely agree about the batteries though. Why cheap out after spending 1000's of dollars on a gun only to wreck it saving $50 on a battery... And for that matter, get a great charger too and make sure those expensive batteries also get the best bang for the buck.

PostSubject: Re: SystemA PTW Group Order Poll   SystemA PTW Group Order Poll - Page 3 EmptyMon 19 Nov 2007, 9:55 pm

That Duratrax looks like it'll do the job. I have the MRC Superbrain 989, and I think it can be had for alot less money than the ICE. I've seen them at Hobby Wholsale in Edmonton for $175 or something like that.

I found this year the distribution is the key. On a warm day, I'll wear the lightest rig I have. Unfortunately, it can only carry 6 mags, so I put 2 in the lower leg mag pouches of my Multi-Cam pants. I've also been known to use 2 drop-leg pouches if my back feels a bit twingy that day. Now, I have a replica Crye blast belt, so I'll try that with some triple shingles and see what happens.

For a hardcore milsim, you don't do much if any shooting, usually. I played Keystone last year with 15 Marui lows and only had to reload once in an entire day and night of play, using full auto. Now that I use semi, field re-loading would likely not be necessary. But, many clubs treat the PTW mags as midcaps, some of them will even limit you to 3 or 6 anyways, unless you reduce your loading and submit to a random check (like they would actually count them?).

I have different rigs for different games. I have a Blackhawk ISAAK rifleman for milsims or long hikes, an HSGI Denali for all-day games, a Tactical Tailor MAV-3 for the hot days when I need lightweight, a Blackhawk Commando chest rig-clone from 204 Tactical outfitted with Drop Zone pouches when I need to carry alot, a Milspex LBV-enhanced for lightweight and capacity on hot days as well. I have been known to ditch the sidearm and all it's accessories to save weight.

And God knows that my CQB-R is a weighty machine. I installed my ARMS #46c SIR and #40 BUIS onto it as I got a new rail for the real gun. And the SIR is heavier than the King Arms CASV-clone, but it's sure sexy on the CQB. I weighed the new arrangement and it seems to be about 12 pounds loaded. Pretty heavy for an Armalite.

Awesome set-ups, do you ever use dump pouches?

Our rules are always growing and changing. Unfortunately, I can never seem to get enough on board regarding what type of mag and how much for ammo rule limits. We still have quite a few new players and PG is not quite as well off as many Albertan communities (BC is sad sometimes). It seems that JG and clone guns are more popular here than custom or PTW guns. Hopefully that will change as the club continues to grow and matures. Mind you, we are making an effort to establish some bare minimums to maintain fun for both sides of the spectrum. Mind you, I grabbed some KA VN mags for ~ $5 a piece from Redwolf. Yes they are plastic but at that price, yeah, no excuses... Everyone can have a ton of mags.

The ICE charger can be had for $150 at EmpireAirsoft, charges NiCad, NiMH, LiPo, LiIon. Great charger and much better than the usually crap pawned off at airsoft stores. I have been continually frustrated with chargers that do more damage than charging. Paying what I have for those &^@#$@ batteries made me re-evaluate how I has charging/discharging them.

Yeah, weight is always a battle, that is why I started looking at dropping the gun length to CQBR and drop the huge RS RAS. In Airsoft, inner-barrel length is all that matters. A PTW P90 would definitely be amazing.

As for ammo usage, yeah, last 2 sims I usually only went through maybe 4-6 mags. Mind you, I was making a real effort to watch my ammo. Also, that is with mid-caps. One reason to have a ton of mags is if the game calls for real or x2 load counts, at then you can get away with carrying 300 rounds on person and be real.

PostSubject: Re: SystemA PTW Group Order Poll   SystemA PTW Group Order Poll - Page 3 EmptyMon 19 Nov 2007, 10:53 pm

I have a couple of Maxpedition Rolly-polly's, the medium sized ones. They are the shit. I keep them on my belt, so no matter what gear I use, the dump pouch is always there.

At one time, I was a proponent of cheaper alternatives to ICS, Classic Army, etc. Then (in 2005) there needed to be quality gun other than Marui for under $700. First came SRC, then came a whole host of others too numerous to name. Now, they dominate the market as the old retailers are gone and so is their product.

The PTW is a speciality gun and not destined for the masses. But for a serious and committed player, they are the ultimate expression of build and performance. But only if you're preapred to spend $3000+ on 1 gun system. For casual users they are not.
