You have a 550... Dammit... By any chance was it an ex-PG gun? I really did fall in love with it.

To fix the striped screw holes just use some epoxy to refit and fill. Basically, epoxy the screws in (using putty or liquid), and once set, un-screw the bolts. You will have a re-threaded hole, maybe not as strong, but will serve you well enough if you have troubles finding a grip.

No, that is a hella rare item to find. I have had no luck on over-seas retailers finding anything.

It uses a version 3 mechbox but is the motor mounted to the box or to the handle (engine cage yes or no)? You can always custom job it if push comes to shove.

Dammit, that is annoying, I never understood why more guns just don't use the engine brackets/cage. If you epoxy it up right, you should be fine. Try using epxy putty right around the screws and seal the putty in with the liquid epoxy, you should be fine. If you get desperate, next time you are in PG, and I am in PG, I can always give you a hand and use my stuff.

One other suggestion that works very well is to use 18ga steel sheet cut to fit in the bottom of the grip. It is thin enough not to effect the mounting but it will give a proper base for the screws to bite into.

Mind you, I just realized, are you talking the mounting to the mechbox or the mounting to the bottom engine heat plate? If you are talking the bottom plate (which I just realized I think you are), then you can do all sorts of alternative fixes for that without too much work, including sunken worm screws.

The screw holes in the grip that holds the bottom plate on are the ones that broke they are molded into the grip we are appoxing it at the moment but would like to replace it dont know if the appoxy will work.

Yeah, the epoxy should work, especially if you make a proper holder with the putty and seal with the liquid. You can also purchase screw sockets[sic] for the screws to bolt into. That or do worm screws from the side to hold it in. If you get really desperate you can always buy bigger screws and re-tap the fittings.

The base plate is the easy part to fix, just wait until the part of the grip that attaches to the mechbox shatters...

Bigger screws will not work the fittings they fo into broke that is why we are trying the apoxy to see if it works worm screws might work will see if the apoxy holds or anyone has a grip they want to sell.

Just wondering, do the 552 and the 550 use the same pistol grip? Might want to look at up a SIG 552 grip instead of 550 since it is discontinued.

[edit] Alright I went around looking and I couldn't even find a replacement grip. Better try what Daes suggested might be your only option...
