Forum Admin

Anyone seen =Daes=? We need someone with html skills to update some of the forum stuff, the Member spinner has been out of date for 2+ years and now I see just a big blank at the bottom where the chatbox used to be. I've offered in the past to do housekeeping duties unless there is someone else that knows how to edit html and use the Admin Control panel that could step up.

The chat is empty because no one uses it. I just checked and it works fine it available, you just have to 'log in'. As for the spinner, well yah... someone just needs to do some work in flash.

My account automatically logs me in every time, that way i can see the "New" messages. Otherwise all messages show up as "read" posts. Don't suppose you know how to edit flash? I've deciphered html without reading any books in the past, I don't know if flash is that much more difficult. Have not dabbled with it yet.

I can confirm the chat works.

Mine does the same thing. I can see all the new 'posts' however the chat you actually have to log into to view. Its at the bottom. You won't be able to view anything in the chat window until you log in. The log in is additional to your regular forum log in.

No flash is not difficult, but I don't have to time to recreate Daes' template and good luck trying to run him down.

Is it not as simple as copying his flash file to a flash editor and modifying it? Did a little reading and it doesn't seem too hard. As far as the "chat window" thing, I was just commenting that it wasn't there. All I could see was a large blank white space. Could be a bug with Mozilla and the forum. If I simply refresh it it becomes visible. I have tried to get a hold of Doug in the past with no response via e-mail and Facebook.

What would probably be easier knight is to try and make your own spinner/player info thinger. If you can get one working that you know how to update etc then it probably has a better chance of getting updated more often.

Doug is working in the middle of nowhere again so I assume he is going to be REALLY hard to get a hold of.

well can you give me a copy of the flash file and I could try to edit it? If I'm successful you can use your admin powers to overwrite the old one and we will have an updated player info spinner?
